An American Pit Bull Terrier Can’t Get Enough Of Her Birthday Bash And Her More Than 500 Greeting Cards

An American Pit Bull Terrier Can’t Get Enough Of Her Birthday Bash And Her More Than 500 Greeting Cards

An animal rescuer and an American Pit Bull Terrier mix have forged a friendship that proved to the world how powerful compassion could be. Of all the people who deeply know the power of compassion, it’s got to be Valerie Sanks.

Valerie is a shelter volunteer at the Brookhaven Animal Shelter and Adoption Center in New York City. And for her, there’s nothing more she can ask for than seeing her lovely, furry friends find their forever family.

That is why she took good care of an American Pit Bull Terrier mix named Truffles, who was brought into the shelter when she was still four-years-old.

Love Is Like Medicine For The Soul

After three years of nurturing the dog with love and care, Valerie was able to find a loving family for Truffles. But after two years of taking care of Truffles, the family decided to return the Pit Bull to the shelter.

When Valerie saw that her baby angel had returned to the shelter, she was surprised and delighted to see her again. However, shelter volunteers like her know one truth that no matter how heartbreaking; senior dogs are the least preferred dogs to be adopted.

Not wanting Truffles to feel sad, alone, and unwanted, Valerie came up with a beautiful idea that would surely fill the Pit Bull’s heart with so much joy and love.

On Truffle’s 10th birthday, she booked a hotel suite for Truffle’s sleepover birthday party. Not only that, she dressed up her baby Pit Bull with a princess outfit. And to make her birthday special, Valerie even brought onboard the award-winning photographer and animal advocate, Sophie Gamand, to capture Truffle’s special moments on her birthday.

Gamand was delighted to be part of Truffle’s day and even asked her followers on social media to send their love to the lovely dog through their greeting cards. In no time, Truffles had over 500 greeting cards sent to her shelter, from various people who wanted to convey their message of love to the Pit Bull.
The greeting cards Truffles received were so many that Valerie even asked for “volunteer card readers” to read it to the lovely dog as her ‘bedtime story’.

With Truffles’ birthday bash’s success, Valerie was so happy to see that her beloved dog received a lot of love from people. But if there is one more thing that she wants for Truffles, that would be definitely to find a permanent family and home that would nurture her with love forever.
