Howard Holloman visited the Isle of Wight, Virginia Animal Shelter to look for a dog that he could help in changing his/her life. When he arrived there, most of the adoptable dogs had shown their best by raising their front paws against the enclosure to get his attention.
All the dogs in the shelter were adorable, but Howard wasn’t looking for an adoptable dog. He was looking for a dog that needed help.
Howard’s eyes were locked on one dog who was in a corner, looking sad and frightened. The dog didn’t make an effort to be noticed at all. Instead, he was looking at the wall. Howard knew that this was the dog he wanted to help.
He went inside the cage and sat beside the dog. Howard gave her some food to get her attention. After a few minutes, the dog let him touch her.
Howard named the dog Noodles. He learned that she was abused in the past; that was why she was scared of almost everything. She developed mistrust, and Howard felt that too.
Howard brought Noodles home to be his foster dad. He introduced Noodles to his other dog, Weezie. Weezie helped Noodles overcome her fears. He was surprised that Noodles easily bonded with Weezie.
After a few days, Noodles started to open up. She started to play fun games with Weezie, however, she still didn’t approach Howard. Howard was very patient with Noodles. He would always praise and try to get her affection by continually giving her treats and asking Weezie’s help.
Later on, Howard decided to formally adopt Noodles. He felt that Noodles would thrive best under his care.
Noodles lived a wonderful life with Howard and Weezie for more than five years before she crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 2018. Howard felt accomplished that he was able to give Noodles the life she truly deserved. He even made a video to remember the good times he had with Noodles. He said that he would never forget Noodles.
Thank you, Howard, for giving Noodles a loving family.
