The Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals’ Humane Law Enforcement Team gave Bentley a second chance at life in 2016. They rescued the bulldog mix who, at that time, weighed almost 100 pounds. He was bigger than the average dog, and people were afraid of him.
What everyone didn’t know was how gentle Bentley was. In fact, he is so gentle that, he gets scared easily. His size didn’t work in his favour, causing him to become PSPCA’s longtime resident. The only time this ended was when the volunteers and staff decided to do something about his situation.

Home for Bentley
People working in shelters know how valuable finding a loving family is to dogs. This is why they’re willing to do everything they possibly can to help their four-legged pals achieve that goal.
To increase the chances of Bentley getting adopted, they made him go through behaviour modification therapy. The reason behind this being, he needed to learn to be comfortable around people from different walks of life. They also trained the pup so he would understand basic commands.
They also kept updating Bentley’s Facebook page to introduce the pooch to the world. There were even instances when they would let him wear costumes to show people that he’s just as charming as any dog out there.
Worth the wait
Despite everything the PSPCA volunteers and staff did for Bentley, no one showed up to adopt him. This dampened their spirits a bit, but they never lost hope. The pup stayed with them for three more years until their much-awaited day finally came.
A couple dropped by their shelter specifically to adopt Bentley. Everyone at the shelter knew they were going to miss him, but they were more than happy to see him find his forever home.
