Meet Otis, the Golden Mix Retriever, who was swept away by the storm and lost track of his family. He rose above the storm and somehow, managed to find himself, a bag of dog food and rescued it from the rubbles.

Hurricane Harvey tore into Texas, Gulf Coast the night before and the following morning, residents were trying to get back daily routine. In Sinton, north of Corpus Christi, a lady by the name, Tiele Dockens went to check out the aftermath of the hurricane for friends and family.

She saw something so adorable that she had to get her phone and snap a picture quickly. It was Otis the dog, carrying a big bag of dog food in its mouth, majestically walking away with it!

Dockens decided to share Otis Picture on social media with the hashtag “#refuge.” The image went viral as people started sharing it. According to Dockens, Otis was in survival mode. Therefore, rescuing a bag of food was instinct-driven. The dog must have been hungry as well, after going through the rough night.

Dockens communicated with Otis’ Dad later that day and found out that the dog got home safely with the bag of food. No one knows whose dog food it belonged to though, as the owner rendered no response to HuffPost’s requests for comment.

There is still the possibility of more rain. Thankfully, The Rescue Groups opened up doors for lost, displaced animals.

Some social media fans commented that the dog’s resourcefulness was down to his Texan trait. One commenter wrote, “Must be a Texas dog, cause he can survive without help.”
