Too much curiosity can get both humans and dogs in serious trouble. Being curious sometimes makes someone act reckless. This contributed to a rise in the number of sinkhole accidents in Florida.

A man and a woman were riding an ATV through the woods when they fell into a 40-foot sinkhole a few days ago. They had to swim while waiting for help because there was water in it. When the authorities rescued them, they were barely injured. Officials actually thought that would be the end of the escalating number of sinkhole accidents, but they were mistaken.
A few days later, a family called Alachua County Fire Rescue after their pet dog, Sammy, fell into the same sinkhole. The firefighters hurried to the scene with ropes, ladders, and bacon snacks. All of this was required for the rescue mission to be successful.

At first, it wasn’t easy for the rescue team to get Sammy out of the sinkhole. The crew documented the procedure as Lt. Brian Ferguson went down the hole. He used two ladders during the rescue. The first allowed him to enter a more stable and less steep area. Then he carried the second one to the bottom so he could finish the descent to Sammy.
Once he reached the base of the sinkhole, Lt. Ferguson used the bacon to gain Sammy’s trust. Sammy appeared to weigh between 60 and 80 pounds, making him hard to carry. Lt. Ferguson donned a muzzle on the puppy before climbing up to keep them both safe.

Eventually, he climbed up the ladder, clutching the dog in his arms. He maintained his balance throughout the climb, and when he reached the top, he let the dog free. The footage showed Sammy’s delight as he ran off to his family. Fortunately, the dog suffered no injuries as a result of the incident.
