A Dalmatian canine couple from Barossa Valley, Australia, stirred news recently after they adopted an unlikely pup. The couple doggo does not have their own conceived puppy but oddly opted to take an orphaned lamb instead. Their video garnered thousands of views as fans cannot get enough of their affection despite their apparent differences.

Surprisingly, the lamb resembles a dalmatian due to her black spots against white undercoat. According to the farm owner who also owns the animals, the female Dalmatian is on the process of heating when her maternal instincts kicked in. Experts agree that spotted lambs are an unusual variation, even more, when born in a Dalmatian breeding farm.
Farm owners Julie and John Barton named the young sheep as “Dotty” due to her unique appearance. Viewers enjoyed how the Dalmatian parents engaged the lamb into a parent-offspring like behaviors such as grooming and following around the farm grounds. Dotty does not seem to mind having the dog couple as her adopted family.

Dotty’s remarkable appearance came from cross-breeding three gene types of sheep. They selected a purebred white Dorper Ram, a common Dorper, and a ewe from the Van Rooy line. The result came as a speckled surprise, even for the owners.
The owner Julie also observed that the mother dog cleans and licks the young one like her real pup. The Dalmatian even attempted to feeding the lamb via her udder but ended unsuccessfully. The lamb currently receives milk from a bottle supplied by Julie.

The Bolton family enjoys their newfound family member in Dotty. They shared that they found the matter hilarious even. The orphan spotted lamb now truly represents what a genuine sheepdog is.
Dog experts agree that dogs make great surrogate parents. They proved this for so many times in the past, and not just on their dog kind. Dotty luckily received the same type of unconditional love, only real children get.
