Deaf And Blind Therapy Dog Inspires People With Disabilities

Deaf And Blind Therapy Dog Inspires People With Disabilities

Milly Jones May 22, 2020

Sometimes we just have to make the best out of what was given to us. There are people who complain about their misfortunes, and then there are those who just march on and look at the positive side of life. This is something that is easier said than done, but looking at this disabled pup can surely inspire even the biggest pessimist out there.

This handsome boy is Braille, and yes, he is a blind dog. He is also deaf, but these things never stopped him from loving life. Instead of whining about not being able to see and hear, he just continues to lead his life as if nothing was wrong. On top of his optimism, he inspires others to do the same.

When his human, Kelly Kenney, received him from the Guadalupe County Animal Control, she had her doubts. She mentioned that she is living in the countryside and she didn’t know how to raise a blind and deaf dog. Braille was only six months old back then, and he was supposed to be euthanized.

Good thing Kelly decided to adopt him, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions that she ever made in her life. Kelly noticed Braille’s loving personality despite his disabilities, and that inspired her to also live her life to the fullest despite her own disabilities. Kelly has ADHD and a learning disability.

Also, Braille is smart enough to work with what he’s got. He learned how to respond to touch commands, and being an obedient dog, Kelly decided to share this dog’s love to their local community. She brought her pooch to events where disabled persons convene.

Braille showers them with love, and Kelly would even dress him up sometimes to entertain people. Once these individuals with disabilities learn about Braille’s story, they would also get inspired by how this pup overcame his own hurdles in life. We need more dogs like Braille, and we also need more people like Kelly, who are willing to take a chance on unwanted dogs.
