Meet Beaux Tox, a lovely yellow Labrador who was previously having difficulty finding a home.

In the womb, the six-year-old struggled to share space with six other pups, resulting in a depressed skull and close-set eyes.
Beaux Tox’s breeders ended up giving him away for free even though veterinarians said his face abnormality had no adverse effects on his health.
He got adopted by a guy in the adjacent city of Austin, Texas. However, the man’s cats didn’t get along with the dog, so they banished him to the backyard, where he spent the next five years being mistreated and living alone. He didn’t even have a dog bed.
The dog was returned to the backyard repeatedly because no one was interested in adopting a dog that never had any training. Local animal rescue agencies made numerous attempts to help.

When Jamie Hulit saw a picture of Beaux, she felt she had to do something to save him. Hulit told The Dodo, “A friend of mine posted a picture of Beaux on Facebook and said he needed a foster home or to be adopted — anything.”
I wrote to him that day saying, “I would love to take that puppy in and give him a home,” in a message.A “shell of a dog” was what she discovered when she went to see Beaux.
He had fleas and ear mites, and his rib cage protruded from his malnourished body.

She told The Dodo: “I just didn’t want him to go back into the foster system and be returned. At that moment, I didn’t care how ill he might be.” Hulit has firsthand experience, having spent two years in foster care from the age of seven.

Hulit adopted Beaux immediately and took him to the clinic, where they found out he had earthworms. This condition can harm the organs permanently. He was too ill even to start therapy. Vets estimated that he had a 50% chance of surviving and that the situation was touch and go.
Beaux spent most of the first month in an oxygen tank, but Hulit was adamant about fighting for his life. She provided him with round-the-clock care and stood with him. After some challenging circumstances, Beaux gained weight a few months later and was prepared for earthworm treatment.

Beaux was given the all-clear at the end despite losing hearing in his left ear due to ear mite infestation and experiencing vision issues in his right eye.
Having spent most of his life outside, the contented dog now resides with Hulit and her 13-year-old golden retriever mix, Riley, who trained Beaux to be “an inside dog”. Hulit told The Dodo, “He was an outside dog, but you’d never know because he does not want to go outside.”
If you leave, he will, but if you stay inside, he will stand by the entrance and stare outside the window.
Beaux has been residing with his family for a whole year, and he is happier than ever.
