Oh wow, what a loving and caring dog!
A 10-year-old Labrador dog, called, Fred found nine ducklings abandoned by their mother and ‘adopts’ them. The dog became a proud ‘Dad’ of the ducklings at Mountfitchet Castle, a tourist attraction close to Stansted Airport, Essex.
Staff at the Castle noticed the ducklings waddling about without their mum. Fred went and started taking care of them like his very own.

The birds are known to follow Fred for a swim in the moat of the Castle. Fred lives in the Norman Castle, which is home to many rescued animals.
As stated by a spokesperson, “the ducklings’ mum vanished on Thursday, which left the staff quite worried. The baby birds ‘looked lost without her.

Fred belongs to his human friend Jeremy Goldsmith. Mr Smith took the ducklings inside the house for proper care as they were so young, vulnerable and unable to fend for themselves.
Fred, however, took upon himself to take care of them ever since and wherever he goes, they go.

“They follow him everywhere like they would, their mother. They love Fred, and he is a bit like a stay-at-home dad for the baby birds.” said Mr Smith.
Fred is known for his sweet and lovely nature. Growing up, he has always been around rescued animals. He shares his sleeping basket with the ducklings.
According to Mr Smith, Fred will only babysit the ducklings for a few weeks and as they grow up, they will be released to wander freely around the Castle or leave.
Seeing this rare kind of love is extremely adorable!
