Dog Uses Leaf To Buy Treats At The Store in Colombia

Dog Uses Leaf To Buy Treats At The Store in Colombia

Milly Jones April 22, 2020

I give you my leaf; you give me some cookies. Exchange is no robbery. That is precisely what one intelligent dog did!

Meet Negro (which means the colour black in Spanish), the dog, who lives in the Campus of Diversified Technical Education Institute of Monterrey Casanare in Columbia. He works at the Institute as a watchdog giving the students and staff peace of mind.

As he takes care of the campus security, they, in turn, provide him with food, water, shelter, love and affection. Gladys Barreto, who has worked at the Institute for quite some time, told the Dodo that, “Negro is very intelligent.”

The shopkeepers noticed earlier on that he had become even more attentive to how the students bought the cookies. Sometimes they share their cookies with the dog, which probably increased his desire to get some also for himself.

Teacher Angela Garcia Bernal told The Dodo that, “Negro went to the store, watching the children give money and receive something in exchange.” The pooch came up with a brilliant idea of what he could also do to get those delicious cookies!

Out of the blue, one day, he picked up a leaf with his mouth, took it to the food store and headed straight to the counter, wagging his tail. The message was so clear and so heart-warming that, the cashier happily took the leaf and gave Negro some cookies.

Since he discovered the ‘leafy currency exchange,’ Negro has been stopping by the shop daily with a leaf in his mouth. The store staff are always happy with the pooch’s chosen way of purchasing his favourite snacks.

Negro has been doing this for years and sometimes overdoes it so, they limit the purchase to a couple treats each day to prevent him from gaining weight. The shop attendants are mindful also of the kind of food they give him, which is, of course, dog food.

If Negro’s purchasing skill put a smile on your face, SHARE with friends on Facebook and spread the joy.
