We may not notice it but heroes walk among us every day. Most of us don’t acknowledge them but they work tirelessly to keep us safe. Among those heroes are firefighters.
Firefighters are highly skilled people who have trained to rescue people and even animals that are in dangerous situations. In Massachusetts, a Golden Retriever named Crosby accidentally fell into an icy river. It was freezing and Crosby couldn’t move her body at all.
Thankfully, emergency services were called to the scene to save Crosby. Crosby’s owner couldn’t save her since doing so will put them in danger. Crosby’s owner called for help and firefighters were sent to the location using GPS.

Within minutes, firefighter Dave Papazian was already there together with other firefighters. He donned his cold water survival suit and jumped into the frigid waters of the river and started swimming toward the stranded dog. The police were also there to assist and they even recorded a video showing Dave swimming and breaking the ice on his way to Crosby.
The frozen water on the surface made the rescue challenging but Dave was determined to save Crosby’s life. He knew that he didn’t have a lot of time and that Crosby would soon go into shock from the freezing temperature. Thankfully, he was able to make it to Crosby and started guiding her back to shore.
Once Crosby was on shore, there were already rescuers waiting for her with a coat to wrap her in. Crosby’s owner was relieved that her beloved dog was saved. She can’t be thankful enough for what Dave and the firefighters did for her dog.
After the incident, Crosby’s owner spoke to the police saying that Crosby was doing fine and was resting comfortably at home. Thanks to Dave and the rest of the firefighters, Crosby gets to live. Here’s a video featuring Crosby’s exciting rescue.
