Friendly Dog Breaks Fence To Meet The Dog Next Door

Friendly Dog Breaks Fence To Meet The Dog Next Door

Milly Jones October 22, 2019

Bailey stayed with a foster family shortly after Hurricane Harvey in 2017. The energetic dog captured the hearts of his adoptive family, who decided to adopt him. Since then, their backyard became her playground. If her dog brother doesn’t want to play with him, she will run around the fenced-in yard by herself.

One day, the neighbor welcomed Seph into their family. Like Bailey, he enjoys running around the backyard too. And so, these two active dogs play in their own yard. After a while, they started to notice each other.

Tessa Llewellyn Holmes, Bailey’s mom observed that the two dogs started noticing each other around May. They would run along the fence together. Then, they discovered that they could dig a hole. It took some digging, but soon enough, it was big enough. Through a gap under the fence, they could stick their snouts in and touch noses.

Seph and Bailey knew they were meant to be friends. Touching noses and running along the fence together doesn’t count as playtime. Bailey would sometimes jump into a four-foot-high raised flower bed to peek at Seph. Their fur parents took their sweet time before introducing them to each other. They wanted to meet.

During one of their run along the wall, they spotted the weak section of the fence. Curiosity and resourcefulness won as Seph and Bailey maneuvered the loose board out of the way. Then Seph crawled through the hole and finally met Bailey. And it all happened without their owners noticing.

Tessa closed the curtains on the window that overlooked the backyard. Then, she heard a jingle that was different from Bailey’s collar. And so, she looked outside and saw them together. Overjoyed by finally being together, Tessa let them play around the playground for three hours.

After a while, Tessa figured that she has to get Shep back home. But, Bailey and Seph are not ready to separate yet. Eventually, Tessa went over next door to share what happened. The dog owners decided to schedule play-dates for new best friends, Shep and Bailey.
