We have all heard people say, ‘crime doesn’t pay’ but, the photo posted on Social media was priceless!
The Cape May Police Department in New Jersey got a report of juvenile criminality going on in the neighborhood, on Sunday. They found out that a little pug dog which escaped from home was freely wandering about unattended — not a criminal of any sort.
Cape May Police Chief Anthony Marino told The Dodo that, ‘their Officer who responded to the call found the dog, picked and took her back to the Police Station.’
It was at the Station that the pug got ‘mugshot.’

“This is what happens when you run away from home.”
What Can I Do Now?
The little pup had hit rock bottom as its naughty behavior got her wholly lost! However, The Police Officers came up with an idea; which was, to take it to Social media, to draw attention and possibly find the owner. Marino reported that ‘they took a mugshot of the dog in a lighthearted way and took it to Social Media in an attempt to find the owner as they had no clue who they were.
While these were happening, the little pup was put in a quiet place to give it time to reflect on her actions.
When the mugshot was posted on Facebook, displaying warning words, “This is what happens when you run away from home.” It got people’s attention and went viral as more and more people liked and shared. Guess what! The Officers plan worked.
Marino said that ‘they use Social Media a lot as it is an effective way of reaching many people. It gets the leads for what they are investigating. When someone saw the dog’s picture, they immediately knew who the owner was! They contacted them, and the happy reunion took place.
People found it funny, but it got them the result they wanted, it found the owner for them.
The pup’s name is Bean and is now back home with her family, where she belongs. Hopefully, she has learnt a lesson from her ordeal.
