The wildfire raging across West Coast is taking its toll on residents and their properties. More than thousands of acres of towns were destroyed – with homes burnt to the ground. People also found themselves fleeing to safety, with some losing some family members along the way.
While most fear for their lives, others, especially pet owners, are on the lookout for their lost pets. Some are able to locate their furbabies, while others aren’t too lucky. Some even face the devastating news of losing their cats and dogs to the perilous fires.

Amidst all the weeks of bad news surrounding the continuing wildfire, rescuers finally found a beacon of hope that inspired them to search and save more lives. One day, fire responders surveyed the Berry Creek area in California after they have received reports of lost pets. There, amidst a burnt property, they came across a puppy.
According to the Butte County Sheriff’s Office in a story posted to their Facebook page, deputies and members of their Search and Rescue team did a thorough search through properties burnt by the wildfire. As they sweep through one large yard, they came across a cute puppy hiding under a shed.

The fire responders quickly fetched the puppy from his hideout and wrapped him in a blanket. They could not believe it! They assumed the poor fellow squeezed into the safe crevice as the fire destroyed the property. Surprisingly, the puppy, who they named Trooper, only had a few minor burns. He was then sent to the local veterinarian for burn treatment and rehydration.
Butte County Sheriff’s Office looked for the poor puppy’s family and it turns out that Trooper belonged to the property owners, who failed to save him as the fire quickly engulfed their land. It is a good thing the fire responders were able to bring Trooper back to his family – a feat that gave them hope amidst the bad wildfire situation.
