Military Dog Gets Reunited With His Handler After Getting Injured In Afghanistan

Milly Jones September 19, 2021

Dogs are hard workers and can be the best partner you can ever have. So when military dogs get their hooman partners, they form a special kind of bond that makes them inseparable. Because of the tough nature of their job, it makes them grow closer together each day.

Military dog Rocky had this special kind of friendship with his handler, Army Specialist Andrew Brown. Back when they worked in Afghanistan, they had to trust each other completely. This made them love each other more as they worked hard for their country.

Until one day, they both got injured during an explosion. They were brought to Germany to get treated. However, the time came when Andrew had to go back to the United States and continue his recovery there. It was hard for Rocky and his hooman to say goodbye to each other.

Rocky stayed behind in Germany as a team of doctors continued to focus on his recovery. The doggo underwent a lot of surgeries to fix his broken pelvis and had to go through 4000 hours of physical therapy to help him regain the use of his hind leg.

Because of what happened to them, Andrew was given the Purple Heart of Honor which was an honorable award given to any member of the military who was wounded or killed during his service. Andrew gave one to Rocky as well, and the doggo instantly became a viral sensation for his great bravery and service.

The Happy Reunion

After going through so much, the day came when Rocky was strong enough to travel back to the US. He flew from Germany and finally arrived to meet his old partner. As soon as he saw him, Rocky was so excited and quickly recognized Andrew.

The pair seemed so happy to finally be reunited again. They spent years together and went through thick and thin, so getting separated for a while was really hard both for Andrew and Rocky. But now, they have the chance to make up for all the time they’ve lost.

If ever the military decides that Rocky is better off retiring, Andrew’s family will be waiting for him and will be welcoming him with open arms. They will always be there to give him the forever home that he truly deserves.
