Mom Thinks Daughter Died In House Fire – But Finds Out Dog Sacrificed Its Life To Save Her

Mom Thinks Daughter Died In House Fire – But Finds Out Dog Sacrificed Its Life To Save Her

Milly Jones May 19, 2020

The sacrificial love dogs have for their human friends is mind-boggling! Meet Polo, a dog who demonstrated just that.

In Baltimore State, Maryland, lived Erika Poremski, her baby girl Viviana and dog Polo. Before Viviana was born, Polo was the baby in the house, but after Viviana’s birth, Polo took it upon himself to love and guard over her at all times. It soon became evident that nothing could come between the two friends, no matter what!

The story of this pup is sad but sweet at the same time, which moved me to tears.

On this dreadful Sunday night, the family went through a terrifying ordeal which changed their lives for good! Erika Poremski, Viviana’s Mom, had just gone out to collect something from the car. On turning back, she saw her house engulfed in ferocious fire!

Erika could hear her 8-months old baby girl crying. She made several attempts to go upstairs to save her, but the fire was too wild and she couldn’t. In the process, she got burnt on her face and hand; feeling completely helpless.

Erika said that everybody in the neighbourhood helped by kicking the doors and breaking the windows, but the fire was too strong. Firefighters were called, and they quickly responded. When they got into the house, they discovered something that melted their hearts! Polo was covering Viviana.

They took both of them out and were able to revive Viviana. Sadly, Polo did not survive the fire. Polo stayed with the baby the whole time, sacrificing his own life to save her, by using his body to shield her. What a hero!

Heartbroken Erika expresses that ‘Polo was her first baby and she loved him.’ She prays for a full recovery for her daughter as she is all she has. “Everything happened so fast; I just don’t understand it.” Says Erika.

Kind-hearted people raised about $5,000 via Go-fund-me to support the family, within nine hours, and Erika is very grateful to everyone.

Viviana got burns on her face, arm, leg and side. If it were not for Polo, the family would have most likely lost Viviana. Thanks to Polo, whose human family will always remember his heroism and pure love for their baby.

Let’s keep up Polo’s memory by sharing this story with the world.
