The love dogs have for each other, or their human owners are unquestionable. But sometimes this love can be tested beyond one’s imagination.
Meet the two Pit Bull brothers who experienced just that, when they went hiking with their Dad into the deep Colorado mountains.
A Bond That cannot Be Broken

Dog owner Kristofer Busching, went on a trip with his two dogs, Tonka and Little P, to Colorado when the coronavirus broke out in New York.
They went hiking and camping deep into the mountains. As they went higher, Kristofer accidentally slipped and tragically fell to the ground, with the dogs and died on the spot. Tonka had a badly broken leg, and Little P suffered minor bruises.
Loyal as they were, the two brothers stayed with their Dad, not willing to go anywhere. It was a challenge for the rescuers, but they managed to take the dogs away to the animal shelter, where they could get treatment.
The dogs were so scared, confused and couldn’t understand what was happening. However, all was not lost because their love for each other kept them going.
Everything Will Be Okay

The powerful bond between the dogs gave them comfort and were able to face their challenges together. Once the vet plastered Tonka’s broken leg, he took them back home to Long Island.
Tonka needed 12 good weeks to recover from the injury, but having Little P around wasn’t going to allow that to happen. Little P is very playful and loves jumping around a lot. Therefore, on the vet’s advice, the two had to be temporarily separated to allow Tonka’s leg to heal.
This was one of the toughest decisions the vet had to make, knowing how it would affect both dogs. However, the risk of having Little P around Tonka was higher than that of the separation.
The Two Besties

Kristofer’s cousin took care of Little P while a medical foster carer, Tonka. Little P is doing well, but Tonka is their primary concern. Tonka is ten years old and was adopted by his Dad since he was a puppy. It is uncertain how he will overcome his trauma.
The separation of the brothers to foster homes is temporary, and the two must be reunited as soon as possible. They have already suffered a terrible loss of their Dad and can’t afford to lose each other too.
Tonka and Little P are currently up for adoption through Mr Bones and Co. They must be adopted together and have to be the only dogs in the family, for them to get the attention they need.
