Most people love dogs. Who wouldn’t? Dogs are loyal friends that never fail to make us laugh.
However, there are still quite a lot of stray dogs wandering many of our city streets. They’re often cold, hungry, scared, and sick when all they want is someone to take them home.
In Romania, soccer teams are joining forces with local animal shelters to help find forever homes for stray dogs. The campaign involves soccer players encouraging soccer fans all over the world to adopt stray dogs from their local animal shelters. Because it’s the most popular sport in the world, it’s safe to say that the campaign was a success.
The campaign was part of the Fill The Gap In Your Life program that the LPF Professional Football League started together with the County Council. It aimed to encourage people to adopt and not to shop for dogs. Many animal shelters all over the world are getting overcrowded and some have no choice but to put the dogs right to sleep to make more room at the shelter.
However, thanks to the campaign in Romania, many soccer fans have started considering adopting their next dog from their local shelter. Before a match began, the players on both teams entered the field with each player carrying a rescue dog from an animal shelter. The fans were cheered for both the players and the dogs.
Many of us don’t look too kindly on stray dogs and we often ignore stray dogs whenever we see one wandering the streets.
However, they’re as lovable and intelligent as any other dogs bought from a pet shop. All these dogs need is love and care and they will become beautiful.
