Rescuers Eldad Hagar and Lisa Chiarelli promptly responded when their rescue group Hope For Paws learned about an injured senior stray dog that lived on an off-ramp of a highway. They understood well that time was of the essence and so they rushed to the dog’s location to help it.
As soon as the rescuers arrived, they noticed the dog sound asleep in the grass. Eldad and Lisa recognized that it was the ideal time to capture the dog. Therefore, they took advantage of the situation.
Eldad made his approach slowly and silently. He took special care with each step. As soon as he was quite close enough to the dog, he placed the soft snare he was holding around the dog’s neck. And swiftly, he secured the animal.
The senior dog became terrified so it panicked and fought back. The dog attempted to escape and began to gnaw on the snare. And as the animal sought to escape from his rescuers, he bit his tongue by accident.
The senior dog, who was eventually named Rudolph, suffered briefly. But after he saw the rescuers had no malicious intent, he began to relax. Lisa and Eldad succeeded in placing him in a cage moments later.
After arriving at the hospital, the dog received medical care. The employees could tell from the scars on Rudolph’s face that he had led a difficult life on the streets.
Before returning home, Lisa and Eldad spent a couple of minutes with Rudolph.
Rudolph stayed in the hospital for a few weeks. He joined Mufasa, another Hope For Paws rescue dog once he had healed. Later, he went home with Susan, an experienced and compassionate foster parent of the rescue organization.
It took Rudolph quite some time to overcome his phobias. However, because of his foster mother, he learned to trust humans once more. Susan and her kid fell completely in love with the dog.
Susan and Rudolph also developed a close relationship, so the organization decided that the dog’s search for a home was complete. Rudolph’s foster family became his permanent, loving home.
