The Two Legged Tiny Chihuahua On Wheels

The Two Legged Tiny Chihuahua On Wheels

Milly Jones November 16, 2020

Life has a tendency of being unpredictable meaning, we can be down one moment, feeling sad and miserable, and the next time, we can be at the top—exhilarated and content. No matter the circumstances, we need resilience to carry us through daily.

While this applies to humans, it can also happen to animals. One such story is that of a Chihuahua named Turbo. Turbo is an energetic and happy pup, but unfortunately, he was born without front legs. Ashley Looper, from Indianapolis, is Turbo-Roo’s owner.

Ashley narrates, when Turbo came into the vet she used to work at, he was small, tiny and cute. As soon as she saw him, she fell in love with him straight away. Turbo was six months old but born without hind legs. The lady who brought him couldn’t keep him. Besides, other litter-mates were not being gentle and friendly towards him.

She didn’t entertain the idea of waiting for that long. Therefore, she decided to make Turbo’s first cart out of a helicopter toy. All she wanted for Turbo in his first two weeks was, getting him to scoot along, pushing himself forward. However, there was a problem because Turbo couldn’t easily use it.

Other DIY carts mum created were not good enough. Therefore, she took to the internet, campaigning to raise funds. Turbo’s story went viral overnight! It caught the attention of an aerospace Engineer in San Diego, who took it upon himself to create Turbo’s cart and shipped it to them – a unique 3D printed body harness with wheels.

Turbo got the concept but didn’t run. Ashley brought her other dogs around him, and that’s when he just took off and went! What an exciting moment it was for Ashley! A year later, Turbo got a new friend called Ruby, who was a rescue puppy, and he couldn’t be any happier because they were inseparable. It was as though they knew they were both different.

Turbo is very inspiring and can do almost anything an average dog can do. He forgets he is two-legged and can jump on the couch whenever he wants to and has such a great personality.

However, Turbo went through different cart sizes to suit his growing body and does it so effortlessly that nothing can stop him now.
