The Battersea Old Windsor Centre in the United Kingdom was instrumental in the love story between TJ the Saluki and Coral the Greyhound. And now, the shelter is working very hard to get the two dogs adopted together.
In a release from Battersea, the two canines made their way to the shelter after their respective previous owners turned them over. Seven-year-old Coral used to have a senior owner who couldn’t look after her anymore. Meanwhile, nine-year-old TJ showed up at the facility a few weeks later after a few circumstances surrounding his former family arose. And shortly after arriving at Battersea, they were put together in a foster home because they felt like the two would benefit significantly if they spent some time together outside the shelter.
And as soon as they spent some time alone, love blossomed between the two. Currently, they are spending their days whirling around the garden of their foster home and snuggling side-by-side.

Kaye Mughal, Old Windsor Centre’s manager and foster parent to the two, said that many of their dogs at Battersea make friends with one another during playdates. However, it was rare for a strong bond to develop between any of their two residents. She added that it was remarkable how both dogs grew confident in each other’s company – especially TJ, who showed his true personality after being around Coral for a while. Mughal also described them as an incredibly sweet pair who deserve to live a happy ending in a loving home together.
And despite being a dynamic duo, Coral and TJ have individual personalities and quirks. While Coral is naturally laidback, she wears the trousers in their relationship, and the timid TJ follows her lead until he acclimates to his environment. Mughal said that their differences complement each other to a tee, and they have no doubts that they would make the perfect addition for the right family.
On that note, TJ and Coral are searching for a permanent home to live out the rest of their lives together. The two of them must be together at all cost – so Battersea is determined not to keep them apart and is on the lookout for probable fur-parents who would feel the same.

Ideally, their perfect home must have a huge garden where they could run around freely, with a room that could accommodate a large dog bed where they could cuddle together, and must be within a peaceful neighborhood. The prospective parents must also have a bit of experience looking after anxious dogs because of TJ’s sensitive soul.
They have been searching for the pair’s perfect match for over a hundred days now. Regardless, Battersea is more than willing to host them until the ideal family is found. According to Mughal, taking in a new pet is a big responsibility. Adding two of them would entail a considerable commitment – and quite frankly, it is not for everyone.

Still, she says that they feel confident that the proper owners are out there. She encourages anybody with sighthound care experience and is willing to dedicate time and effort to their dynamic duo to register with their rehoming team.
In the meantime, Mughal says she is more than happy to have the lovebirds stay with her as she watches their love flourish right before her eyes.
