This Couple Was Ready To Say Goodbye To Their Foster Dog And They Didn’t Know He Had Other Plans

This Couple Was Ready To Say Goodbye To Their Foster Dog And They Didn’t Know He Had Other Plans

A senior dog named Doc found himself at a local animal shelter when he lost the ability to use his legs. He quickly made it to the euthanasia list and he had very few days left to live. He surely feared for his life because old dogs like him don’t often get to leave the shelter alive, but luckily for him, he did.

Mckenzie and Grant, a local couple, heard about Doc and decided to help. They weren’t sure what they could do but something told them they were the dog’s only chance to survive. Quickly, they pulled him out of the shelter, and they felt instantly connected with him.

Once home, Doc got a much-needed bath. It’s probably been ages since his last wash because he was just so filthy and smelly. But right after, he felt so refreshed and he slept tightly that night.

Come morning, Mckenzie drove Doc to the vet. She wanted to hear some good news but instead, she was told that the dog suffered from degenerative myelopathy, a disease that affected his spinal cord. There was no cure to the dog’s condition and the vets suggested it would be better to put him to sleep than to let him be in pain.

Mckenzie felt lost and devastated by what the vet told her. She didn’t like the idea but she thought it was for the best. She, however, wanted him to have the best time of his life before he leaves this world, so she brought him home and gave him a little party.

Doc got a puppucino for the first time in his entire life. He also received gifts and treats from his foster mom. And afterward, he spent the entire afternoon in the yard and enjoyed a picnic with his foster family.

The couple was ready to say goodbye to Doc, but they wanted him to feel free and mobile before they bring him toward the rainbow bridge. And so, Mckenzie grabbed a towel and used it as a harness so the dog could stand up and walk. To her delight, he just started taking steps. She took him out again the next day and he stood up and walked again.

It was impossible at first but Doc learned to use his legs again. Soon enough, he no longer needed the harness because he had enough strength to carry his own weight.

Mckenzie and Grant were so amazed to know how resilient their foster dog was, and it’s the same reason why they decided to let Doc stay with them for good. They believed fate brought him to them because he was meant to be a part of their family.
