When Lucie and her dog Toast went out one time, they found a kitten just outside their doorstep. Upon seeing the kitten, she immediately told Toast to be gentle with it because it was a baby cat. So Toast gently approached it and sniffed the kitten carefully. Lucie thought that the mom was just nearby but the kitten just waltzed into the house with them.
It went straight directly to her dog and followed her around everywhere like Toast was its mom. In the morning, when Lucie gave Toast her breakfast, the kitten quickly jumped in and ate it and Toast just let her. Then they ate together and quickly got along well.
Toast even helped her climb up furniture. She would also push her up the steps and guide her down it as well. When the two were lounging in the living room, Lucie realized that the kitten slept in between Toast’s stomach and legs. Then she would grab on her like in a breastfeeding movement.
Worried, she contacted her vet and she was told that Toast was doing okay and she was just having stress pregnancy. It was like Toast knew that the kitten picked her as its mom and she just had to take care of it. One time, she saw the kitten going towards the pool, she quickly got up and grabbed her by the neck. Then she brought her back to where they were sitting.
She became very alert and anxious for the kitten and always looking after it. Lucie saw how their relationship grew and how they would cuddle together. She also noticed that Toast was calmer when the cat was there with her.
Toast always had very strong instincts like a human being and she really just worked well with emotions. And it was just an amazing moment to see it in play.
