Giving birth is a laborious task for humans and dogs alike. That’s why some dog owners make sure to pamper their dog after it gives birth. Foster parents often do the same to make sure the dog feels appreciated for their effort.
Luna was already pregnant when she was fostered by a woman named Chelsea and her husband. The foster parents had anticipated the dog to give birth soon after she arrived at their home. Hence, they’ve prepared a comfortable place for the dog to deliver her puppies.
The pit bull gave birth to nine puppies. However, two puppies started losing weight after a few days, and one, unfortunately, passed away. After that, Luna became even more attentive to her puppies, as a good mother would.
Eventually, the puppies started growing teeth, which made feeding them painful for Luna. Yet even when she felt discomfort, she never got angry at her puppies. Some dogs would have snarled at their offspring, but she never did that.
Once the puppies were weaned, Chelsea decided to schedule a day off for Luna. She took the dog for a walk and bought her ice cream and toys. Then they went to the beach for a stroll. That was the first time that Luna went there, so it was a special moment.
When Luna and Chelsea arrived home, the foster parent had one last surprise for the dog. She threw a farewell celebration because Chelsea had found permanent owners for Luna. It was a bittersweet moment, one that most foster parents experience regularly.
In an interesting turn of events, the people who adopted the pit bull were Chelsea’s cousins. That meant that Chelsea could still visit Luna whenever she wanted to. It’s a win-win situation for all of the people involved.
