Lucky was a very much loved family dog, whose life was cut short by two gunmen. On this particular day, Michael Masson had taken his daughter and their four-year-old miniature pinscher out to play.

Lucky wandered off to the nearby hill, as Dad Michael played on the trampoline with his daughter at their Eagle Mountain home, Utah. Minutes later, they heard what sounded like fireworks.
Michael immediately turned to see what was happening, only to see his dog running 10 feet down the hill and fell. He realised it was a gunshot.
Michael desperately wanted to see who shot his dog! He spotted two men on top of the hill, standing and watching the poor dog stumble down the hill to a stop before they turned and walked away.

Mrs Masson said, when her husband saw the two men, “It looked like they were verifying they had shot him, and they were like pointing and talking about it.” The men shot Lucky in the abdomen, and the bullet came out the other side.
The Masson family rushed him to the hospital, but unfortunately, Lucky did not survive the injury. The family tried everything they could to save their pup’s life, but to no avail – over an hour later, the dog died.

The Masson family did not expect to say goodbye to their beloved dog too soon but had no choice. The family buried their canine friend in their backyard and are now helping other dog owners, warning them to keep watch of their dogs, no matter where they are.
