Meet Shelby Hennick, a 21-year-old veterinary technician from Santa Maria, California. Her Grandma Dona had an allergic reaction to one of the medications she was on and got hospitalised.
Having been separated from her dog Patsy of thirteen years, for three days, Hennick’s mum felt that Dona needed cheering up. Therefore, she came up with an idea to take Patsy to visit her at the hospital.
She called up her daughter Hennick who happened to be passing by her Grandma’s house and shared the thought with her. Hennick did not waste time but agreed to the idea. She then went into Dona’s house and picked up Patsy.

Unless they are service dogs, pets are usually not allowed into the hospital wards due to the risk of infections they can cause to patients. Hennick had to come up with a way to sneak Patsy in. She used a blanket to wrap her up, pretending to be carrying a baby.

Having visited the Grandma before, the hospital staff did not think anything of it but just walked past, waving at them before they entered Dona’s room. Thankfully, the little dog did not make any noise but just kept licking Hennick’s arm, according to Hennick.
Hennick narrates that, grandma Dona had had Patsy from when she was only a few weeks old and had to bottle-feed her. The bond between them had grown very strong.

When Hennick walked in with Patsy in her hand, Dona thought, she was carrying her sister’s baby. But seeing Patsy on her lap was like a dream! She felt an untold joy!
Hennick told BuzzFeed News that, “Patsy kept crying and couldn’t get close enough.”

Hennick tweeted about what happened and got an overwhelming response from various people across the globe. Something she never expected!
She went on to tell BuzzFeed News that, “I was really happy we were able to pull it off, and I’m sure it made her day,” Hennick’s Grandma recovered and went back home shortly afterwards.
